Why Joyful Thrifty Home? Part 3 - Joyful Thrifty Home

As a way to better explain my vision for Joyful Thrifty Home, I have created a three part series called ‘Why Joyful Thrifty Home?’ Each one will focus one one of the words from the name. To see the other parts in the series go here; Part One: Joyful, Part Two: Thrifty.

Why Joyful Thrifty Home Part 3

What is Home?

Home can mean a lot of things. It is obviously the place in which you live but there is so much more to it than that. Home is a place to feel welcomed and comfortable. Home is a place to make memories and enjoy family. Home is what you make of the space you live in, how you spend your time in it and who you share it with.

What does Home Mean for Me?

When I married my husband I moved all my belongings into his small apartment style condo, the place we would start our home together.  Though this is where we live, home for me isn’t just my cramped apartment.

For me, this is home :

  • A place to laugh, a place to live and a place to love.
  • Learning to cook and try new recipes.
  • A hug and a kiss from my husband when he walks in the door after a long day at work.
  • Doing what I can to make the place I live inviting and peaceful.
  • Sitting outside with a book enjoying the sunshine and the breeze.
  • The smell of freshly brewed coffee in the morning.
  • The memories I make with my husband, friends and family.
  • Anywhere I can just be me.

What Does Home Mean for You?

I want you to feel welcomed when you come to visit here so that this place feels like home. I imagine inviting you over for a cup of coffee or tea while we chat about life.

I can’t help but have this song pop in my head when thinking about home. So here is my sentiment to you:

Hold on, to me as we go
As we roll down this unfamiliar road
And although this wave is stringing us along
Just know you’re not alone
‘Cause I’m going to make this place your home

Settle down, it’ll all be clear
Don’t pay no mind to the demons
They fill you with fear
The trouble it might drag you down
If you get lost, you can always be found

Just know you’re not alone
‘Cause I’m going to make this place your home
